Arriving Cambodia

Arriving Cambodia

Cambodia is an exciting place where you will need to embrace the culture and tradition of the Khmers. The capital is Phnom Penh located in the southern part of the country.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A beautiful capture of the sun as it tries to rise for a brand new day.

At the airport in Phnom Penh

Below is a view of the airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

As the tuktuk driver was checking the map for my hotel in Phnom Penh, I managed to take a photo.

Getting around

Tuktuk

The main transport around Cambodia is by a tuktuk since there are not much buses serving most parts of the city. Fare always starts at USD 1. If the distance is quite far though, you might be asked for as much as USD 5.

Taxi

One can also hire a taxi in the busy areas of the city for a faster travel.

Buses

There are few specific routes served by buses in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Going to Thailand and Vietnam

Buses

Overnight buses and day buses can be booked if you want to extend your travel to Thailand or Vietnam. Travel agencies can be spotted near hotels or malls to buy your bus tickets ahead of time.

I spotted a travel agency near the Riverside. The buses also park there at night to wait for the passengers. Tuktuk will pick you up at your hotel and send you to the bus stop. It is part of the fare that you paid or the travel agencies already arrange this for the guests.

The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Cambodia. One of the popular places to visit while in Cambodia is the Royal Palace. It is where the King lives. There are several pagodas and temples to see while inside the Royal Palace. Once can avail of a guided tour or if you are comfortable roaming around by yourself, you can jus pay the entrance fee at the gate.

The Royal Palace is just near the Riverside. Literally, it is near the popular river in Cambodia.

Nearby are restaurants and hotels in Phnom Penh.

Getting there

From your hotel, you can take the tuktuk. Unfortunately in Phnom Penh, there are few buses plying around the city and very few routes are served. Most of the time, you may need to take the tuktuk in going to places or if you are visiting another place nearby, walking might be a good option to also exercise.

Accomodation

Plenty of guest houses and hotels in the riverside area. Entertainment bars are also lined up if you want to go out at night to party and have some drink of vodka or beer.
